The first lace was invented in the 15th century and produced primarily in Milan and Venice. Since it was extremely expensive to produce, only very little could be afforded. Both men and women adorned themselves with luxurious cuffs and lace collars.

In the 19th century, crochet lace was invented in Ireland, which ensured the impoverished rural population extra income. “Good old days”.

A little bit about UPPERCASE

The Hamburg-based label UPPERCASE consists of two incredibly talented designers, Catrin Krause and Holger Grabowsky. With great courage and a passion for detail, they embarked upon the dream of a lifetime: to create and market products to their own design.

The high-quality Merino wool scarves have been designed for people who like to move away from the mainstream; design-oriented individualists who are looking for that "something special", who have a taste for originality and value quality, wit and personal style.

Knitted. Not printed.

These smooth, reversible scarves with a knitted (not printed) design can be worn from either side. It is up to the wearer to decide which colour combination is preferred or which best compliments a particular outfit.

Pure Merino wool

UPPERCASE scarves are made from the best material that sheep have to offer: pure Merino wool - a natural product of unmatched quality. This exquisitely soft wool is comfortable to wear around the delicate skin of the neck and the fineness of the knitted garment shows UPPERCASE designs off to their best advantage.

Wool does not collect much static and therefore does not attract dirt quickly. Odours soon vanish from the fabric when the garment is hung in the fresh air and creases from wear disappear quickly after the fabric is smoothed and hung. Merino wool warms or cools depending on the surrounding temperature and can be worn almost all year round due to this capability.
