Alabasta is a brand new collection designed by British textile designer Asta Barrington. Asta graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters in Embroidered Textiles.
Asta spent subsequent years developing her own label embroidered scarves and throws which have sold worldwide and has also created fabrics for fashion designers Matthew Williamson and Marni.
Since the 1950’s, Åry have been based at the same site in Sweden, where age-old skills and innovative techniques work seamlessly together. Using only the finest birch wood from sustainable Scandinavian forests, their credentials are greener than green – they even re-use raw material waste to generate new energy for the factory.
The wood is cut from a single sheet of birch, with no knots to interrupt the fine-grained surface. Each tray is painstakingly formed by hand before a high quality finish seals in the design, ensuring dishwasher safety and a lifetime of use.
