SWEDISH TRADITION SINCE 1922
KORBO Handmade Wire Baskets are functional baskets with a history that dates back to the early 1920’s Sweden.
The baskets are timeless and beautiful tools that in the old days were used by farmers, fishermen or anyone who needed reliable carrying and storage that could withstand weather, wind, wear and tear.
WOVEN BY HAND FROM A SINGLE WIRE
The manufacturing of the wire baskets started in 1922 and ever since then the baskets have been woven by hand using the exact same technique.
The unique construction, a single hand-woven long wire completely without welding, is the reason that the baskets are so durable – there are simply no parts of the basket that can fall apart.
MATERIALS
KORBO Handmade Wire Baskets are available in two different materials: galvanized steel and acid-proof stainless steel.
Galvanized steel:
Galvanization is a process used to prevent corrosion of the steel by adding a physical barrier of zinc to the surface. Galvanized steel has been effectively used for more than 150 years and the wire will, over time, obtain a beautiful matt patina.
Acid-proof stainless steel:
Acid-proof stainless steel contains nickel and molybdenum that together with steel form an alloy which is completely stainless. Unlike galvanized wire, acid-proof stainless wire is not just protected on the surface; it is stainless all the way through. The baskets in acid-proof stainless steel have a surface that will remain shiny regardless of environmental exposure.
