Designed many decades ago and brought out of the archives by Almedahls, this fabulous fabric by Swedish designer Marianne Westman stopped us in our tracks. The saying goes red and green should never be seen, but this cherry orchard fabric breaks all the rules with its juicy red cherries on a rich green background and it's absolutely stunning!

As a designer, Marianne Westman sought inspiration in her immediate surroundings. Her decorative designs and the products she created were inspired by what she found appealing, needed in her own home, or felt would be enjoyed by someone in her own family.
Marianne joined the famous Swedish company Rörstrand in 1950 immediately after graduating from the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm, and she collaborated closely with the company for more than 20 years. Marianne Westman recently celebrated her 80th birthday, to mark the occassion her famous Picnick design and archive fabrics have been reissued for many people to enjoy again or discover for the first time.
All Almedahls fabrics are still screen printed in Sweden.
