In 1944, during the difficult times of the Second World War, Rolf Fahrenholtz and Stig Jørgensen founded Rosti - a company specialising in precision plastic injection moulding.

In 1948 the company began the production of their now-famous melamine mixing bowls, utensils, and dinnerware. Worldwide more than 25 million Margrethe bowls have been sold.
