Røros Tweed Isak Wool Throw - Far Away Blue

In 2016, Norwegian designers Anderssen & Voll took part in an international design research project called ‘Furnishing Utopia.' The initial stage was organised as a workshop at the Hancock Shaker Village in Massachusetts, USA. It was during this inspiring visit that the Isak throw was first sketched out.

Drawing from the artistry of classic Shaker chairs, which are often braided from colourful, woven cotton tape, the Isak throw found its muse. Translated into a light, soft, and decorative masterpiece, the Far Away Blue Isak throw, woven by Røros Tweed, gracefully echoes the Shaker tradition while embracing contemporary charm.

Selected wool from Norwegian sheep, combined with collaboration with leading Scandinavian designers and textile artists, has made Røros Tweed one of the most reputable producers of 100% Norwegian-made brands.

Røros, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was once a mining town 600 meters above sea level. The valuable copper discovery brought wealth to some but left many in poverty. When Peder Hiort, the mine's director, passed away in 1789, he left his fortune to a foundation supporting textile education and providing raw materials to the poor. This legacy laid the foundation for Røros Tweed, a tradition of handcraft and textile production. In 1940, Røros Tweed became a sales outlet for exquisite handmade textiles.
